Bob Foulk

Bob Foulk

2017 Upper Arlington City Council Candidate

Bob graduated from Newark High School in 1966, attended the Newark branch of The Ohio State University, and moved to Columbus in 1969 to continue his education. He completed his PhD in 1984 and worked for seven years as the Chief of Information Services for the Ohio Department of Aging before starting a small business IT consulting company.

Giving back through public and community service is important to Bob.  Over the years he has worked as a volunteer for several organizations including, among others, sitting on the board of the J. Ashburn Youth Center from 1989-1991, on the board of the Clintonville Resources Center 1995-2002, serving on the advisory committee of a national dog rescue organization 2005-present, and volunteering locally for activities supported by the Upper Arlington Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association.

Bob values greatly the idea that local government should be nothing more or less than an outgrowth of the interests and aspirations of residents; what in aggregate the people that live in Upper Arlington want for their community. He hopes to make that idea a more functional part of local governance if elected. Bob became more involved in community issues in 2015 as he functioned as a key member of the effort to prevent the city’s emergency dispatching to be outsourced to Columbus, the Save UA 911 committee. The experience of attempting to work with city government on that as well as subsequent issues motivates his interest in serving on city council.

Bob moved to Upper Arlington 2001 for all the reasons so many view this community as the best living environment in the metropolitan area.  He and his wife, Janie, moved to their current north Arlington residence in 2007, love their neighbors, and have no intention of moving anywhere else.

Running for a seat on city council is an outgrowth of Bob’s life experience and values, reflecting his wish to contribute to maintaining the wonderful community that is now such a large part of his life.

A complete catalog of Bob’s education and professional experience is available for review under the “Documents” tab, listed as “Curriculum Vitae.”
